In the history of the Trakehner horse there have always been colored (pinto) horses. They were in the herds of the main stud at Trakehnen, especially present in the mixed colored herd at Bajohrgallen, as well as in the private herds. For example, at the famous Schlobitten stud owned by the Princes of Dohna, there have always been colored horses in their breeding program.
In October October 2004 at Neumuenster, for the first time ever, a colored Trakehner was presented for approval. Cosmopolit was approved, keeping the long tradition of colored trakehners alive. However, he was not just another pretty face, he came with impecable bloodlines. His sire Peron junior represents the stallion line of Habicht-Sixtus. Peron junior has made his own presence known in this illustrious family of worldwide famous performance horses by producing athletic, typey offspring with incredible movement. Elite Stallion and Stallion of the Year, Sixtus needs no introduction. Peron junior's great-grandmother Peru also produced the Atlanta Olympic Bronze Medal Winner Peron. Cosmopolit's dam Carisma is the full sister to the approved colored Trakehner stallion Camaro by Le Duc. Camaro qualified in 2002 and 2003 to compete at the German National Eventing Championships. Cosmopolit's grandfather Le Duc competed successfully at the FEI Levels. Le Duc carries in him the genes from the most influential competition sires of the whole breed, Anduc, Marduc and Pregel. Cosmopolit's dam line traces back to the foundation mare EA13A Cresta Star xx. When he was approved in Neumuenster the German breeding director made these comments, "Due to Cosmopolit's sporting (sporty) appearance and the quality of his gaits, which he demonstrated during the inspection days, he gained a lot of friends. His legs are correct with big hoofs and he shows a well proportioned body with attractive neck."
